Veterans For Peace Chapter 93, located in south central Michigan, is named in honor of two legendary peace activists, Utah Phillips and J. David Singer.

Utah Phillips was not only a veteran, but a longtime peace activist, labor supporter and musical troubadour who appeared numerous times at The Ark in Ann Arbor. For more on Utah, click here.


Veterans For Peace Chapter 93 is also named in honor of J. David Singer, a legendary local scholar who dedicated a large part of his life in confronting the "why" behind war. For more on David's phenomenal life, click here.

Who We Are - Veterans For Peace Seeks to increasing public awareness of the costs of war, restrain our government from intervening in the affairs of other nations, works to reduce the arms race as well as eliminating nuclear weapons and works to abolish war as an instrument of international policy.

About The Group - Veterans For Peace is a national organization founded in 1985 with a national headquarters office in St. Louis, Missouri. An annual convention is held in August. Member actions have included speaking about their experiences at schools and other venues, lobbying Congress and the President, fact-finding delegations to Central America/ Bosnia/Iraq/Chiapas, Mexico and medical aid trips to Vietnam. A Washtenaw County Chapter of Veterans For Peace was formed in February 2003.

Chapter Meetings
The next Chapter meeting will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 (3rd Saturday), 10am. The new Chapter meeting location is at the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation building, 4001 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, just south of Ann Arbor and not far from I-94. The site offers free parking. Arlington Michigan Memorial Day Display
VFP Chapters 93 and 74 (Metro Detroit), along with Citizens For Peace, will display Arlington Michigan (one cross for every Michigan soldier killed in the Iraq and Afghan wars) on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th, 9am to 6pm at Livonia's Nehasil Park, 33223 5 Mile Road.
